I don't care who is Lucas, I want to know what is Venmo

Being a passionate customer of Venmo, I am terribly disappointed with their new campaign.


The first time I saw it in Subway, I even doubted myself, is this venmo that venmo I use every month to transfer money with my friends?

This commercial has nothing on the functionality of Venmo. And, why I care about Lucas? Who is Lucas? Why you have the whole subway put on Lucas's pictures from eyes, to face, to the body? After watching the commercial, people who do not know Venmo still do not know Venmo. People who know Venmo like me, started to ask ourselves what is Venmo.

I heard this commercial comes from Venmo's internal marketing team. Oh god. Could you stop burning the money from your investor? Can you at least add some words and let us know what is Venmo!

Maybe you would argue this is a tactic to draw some curiosity out of the audience. The thing is, Lucas is not someone attractive enough that would arouse my interests in searching for it.

This commercial is worst I have seen in the Subway (for now, maybe there will be worse in future).

But still, for start-up like Venmo, please make your every marketing dollar work with better creatives! If you lost your judgement, please ask me, as a big fan of the past Venmo. Don't screw up your fans any more.
